About DPPG

Department of Public Policy and Governance offer courses like Ph.D., Master courses, Certificate and PG Diploma Courses related to Public Policy, Public Administration, Public Finance etc. It would be multidisciplinary initiative and would involve policy related learning and development in all fields like Business and Government Policy, Demography, Politics, Institutions, International and Global Affairs, Political and Economic Development, Social and Urban issues, Economics, Health and Hygiene, Administration and Infrastructure, science and technology etc. The Department will have immense potential to excel in all its academic endeavors and inculcate the latest developments in different disciplines. The department will be committed to provide quality professional development opportunities for students/ professionals in the public and non-public sectors.

Vision of Department

Department of Public Policy and Governance (DPPG) is intended for improving governance and public policy in India with a strong desire to lead policy thinking and policy formulation suggesting solutions to the emerging policy issues and problems. The Department will aspire to enhance scholastic abilities and establish it as a policy think tank that develops and promotes alternative solutions to the issues concerned with society and critically evaluate public policies, to assess the performance of the public authorities and to organize programmes for raising the competencies of students, faculty and administrators.

Mission

DPPG aims to transform itself into a reputable institution dealing with policy and administration issues to help governments at all levels to improve governance and also formulate strategic policy making. It will aspire to be a leading institution of students, practitioners, alumni, faculty, and staff developing knowledge through teaching, research, and professional development emphasizing innovative management of public policy and services.

Objectives

The Department intends to undertake the activities for promoting education, research, training and consultancy in the area of Public Policy, and Governance.
The objectives are:

• To cater latest developments in the field of public policy administration and management at the national and international levels
• To promote research in the field of Public Policy , Public Administration and Management that can guide policy makers for effective planning and implementation.
• To train the students for the civil service examinations
• To motivate students and practitioners for research to explore and gain insights into administrative processes
• To identify training needs, and conduct Training Programmes for existing policy practitioners
• To conduct research and publish literatures related to Public Policy, Administration, Management, and Execution of industrial and developmental activities.
• To act as a platform for providing skilled human resources for policy making, administration, and implementation.
• To organize seminars, conferences, and workshops for providing a platform for interaction and exchange of views by various agencies, academia, practitioners, professionals and working executives at public systems
• To organize Special Assistance and Capacity Building programmes.
• To create an interdisciplinary study environment within university for the management and non-management students across different disciplines.
• To undertake joint research projects and collaborative works with institutes/ universities of national and international repute involved in public policy and public systems development and management development activities within the country.
